1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Personal information you disclose to us
In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us strictly for licensing and support purposes.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you purchase a license, activate the App, or contact us for support.
Personal Information Provided by You. The personal information we collect may include the following:
- email addresses (for license activation and support)
- license keys
- device identifiers (hashed/anonymised for license binding)
Content Data (User Files). The App processes your videos, images, and audio files. This processing happens locally on your device. We do not collect, upload, or have access to your content or the metadata associated with your files.
Sensitive Information. We do not process sensitive information.
Payment Data. We do not store credit card details. All payment data is handled by our Merchant of Record (e.g., Lemon Squeezy, Stripe). We only receive a confirmation of purchase and the associated license key/email.
Information automatically collected (Telemetry)
In Short: We collect limited, anonymous technical data only if you explicitly opt-in.
Default State: By default, the App does not collect usage data or crash logs.
Opt-In Telemetry: If (and only if) you explicitly consent via the App settings to share diagnostic data, we may automatically collect certain technical information to help us fix bugs and improve performance. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information).
The information we may collect includes:
- Log and Diagnostic Data. Crash reports (stack traces), error codes, and performance metrics (e.g., ‘Export failed: Error 404’).
- Device Data. Operating system version (e.g., macOS 14.2), App version, and hardware specifications (e.g., Apple Silicon M1/M2). We configure our diagnostic tools to discard IP addresses or anonymise them immediately upon receipt.
2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We process your information to validate your license, provide support, and improve the App.
We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:
- To facilitate account creation and license validation. We process your email and device ID to verify that your license key is valid and to prevent piracy.
- To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user. We process your data to enable the functionality of the App on your specific device.
- To respond to user inquiries/offer support to users. We may process your information to respond to your inquiries and solve any potential issues you might have with the App.
- To protect our Services. We may process your information as part of our efforts to keep our Services safe and secure, including fraud monitoring and prevention.
- To identify usage trends (Anonymised). If you have opted into telemetry, we process anonymous data to understand which features are used most frequently to guide future development.
3. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON TO PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We only process your personal information when we believe it is necessary and we have a valid legal reason (i.e. legal basis) to do so under applicable law.
If you are located in the EU or UK, this section applies to you.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR require us to explain the valid legal bases we rely on in order to process your personal information. As such, we may rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a Contract. We process your license data (email, license key) because it is necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations to provide you with the licensed software.
- Consent. We rely on your explicit consent for processing Telemetry Data (crash logs). You can withdraw your consent at any time via the App settings.
- Legitimate Interests. We may process your information (such as device IDs for license binding) when we believe it is reasonably necessary to achieve our legitimate business interests, such as preventing software piracy and fraud.
- Legal Obligations. We may process your information where we believe it is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations (e.g., tax and accounting laws).
We may process your information if you have given us specific permission (i.e. express consent) to use your personal information for a specific purpose, or in situations where your permission can be inferred (i.e. implied consent). You can withdraw your consent at any time.
4. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
In Short: We share information only with essential infrastructure providers required to run the App.
Vendors, Consultants, and Other Third-Party Service Providers. We may share your data with third-party vendors who perform services for us or on our behalf. We have contracts in place with our third parties, which are designed to help safeguard your personal information.
The categories of third parties we may share personal information with are as follows:
- Payment & Licensing Processors: (e.g., Lemon Squeezy, Stripe) To validate your purchase.
- Performance Monitoring Tools: (e.g., Sentry, TelemetryDeck) Only if you opt-in to telemetry.
- Cloud AI Providers: (e.g., OpenAI, AWS) Only if you use specific Cloud-Based AI features (see Section 6).
We DO NOT share your data with Ad Networks, Social Networks, or Affiliate Marketing Programs via the App.
5. DO WE USE COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?
In Short: The App does not use cookies. We use limited technical telemetry only with your consent.
Unlike our Website, the Desktop App does not use “Cookies” or web beacons.
We do not track your browsing history or your usage of other applications. Any tracking technology used within the App (such as crash reporting) is strictly for diagnostic purposes, is disabled by default, and does not track you across the internet.
6. DO WE OFFER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-BASED PRODUCTS?
In Short: We prioritise on-device AI. Data only leaves your device if you explicitly use Cloud-Based features.
Types of AI Technologies We Use
To balance performance with privacy, we employ two types of AI processing:
- On-Device AI (Local Processing): By default, our AI features are designed to run locally on your device. When operating in this mode, your input (e.g., videos, images, text) and the generated output are processed entirely by your device’s hardware. This data is not transmitted to, nor stored on, our servers or any third-party servers.
- Cloud-Based AI (Third-Party Processing): Certain advanced features may require processing power or models that exceed local capabilities. We will clearly indicate within the App when a feature utilises Cloud-Based AI.
Use of Third-Party AI Service Providers
Solely in instances where you utilise features powered by Cloud-Based AI, we may provide services through third-party service providers (‘AI Service Providers’), such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
If (and only if) you engage with these specific Cloud-Based AI features, your input, output, and personal information may be shared with and processed by these AI Service Providers. We ensure that these providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and, where possible, we opt-out of data training policies.
7. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We keep license records as long as you are a customer. Diagnostic data is retained for a limited period.
- License Data: We retain your email and license details for as long as your license is active and valid, and for a period required by tax laws (usually 6-7 years) for accounting purposes.
- Diagnostic Data: If you opt-in to telemetry, anonymous crash logs are typically retained for 90 days before being automatically deleted.
- User Content: We DO NOT possess or retain your user content (videos/files) at any time.
8. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
In Short: Our Local-First architecture is our primary security measure.
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organisational security measures. However, the most significant security measure is our architecture: because your files are processed locally, they are not exposed to cloud-based breaches associated with our servers.
For the limited data we do process (license keys, email), we use encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.
9. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?
In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the license and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records.
10. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: You have rights to access and control your personal information.
In some regions (like the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure; (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information; and (iv) if applicable, to data portability.
Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information (e.g., for Telemetry), you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can do this immediately by navigating to the Settings menu within the App and disabling the “Share Analytics/Crash Reports” option.
11. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES
Most web browsers include a Do-Not-Track (‘DNT’) feature. Since our App is desktop software and not a web browser, DNT signals are not directly applicable. However, we adhere to the spirit of DNT by ensuring that no usage tracking occurs unless you explicitly opt-in.
12. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: Yes, if you are a resident of California or other US states with privacy laws, you have specific rights.
